Series of massive explosions in Colombo on Easter Sunday; Large number of deaths

At least six bomb blasts were reported in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday. Video evidence from a church in Negambo showed apparently dead or seriously injured. At least three of these blasts have taken place in Christian churches.

They are Kochchikade St. Anthony’s church in Colombo city, Katuwapitiya St. Sebastian’s Church in Negambo and another church in Batticaloa. Eyewitnesses reported massive damage. Death toll is expected to raise to scores and over 100 injured persons have been admitted to hospitals.

More blasts are reported from several hotels in Colombo. Unconfirmed reports said the blasts had taken place at Shangrila and Kingsbury hotels in Colombo.
